We would like you to meet Will Welles, a talented J24 sailor among many other onde design classes that he also sails. Will works at the North Newport, RI. We are proud to have such a great sailor on our team!
Nobody better then Will to tell us his
own story...
SAILING
I grew up sailing on the coast of Maine with my family. My first memories are cruising with my folks and I started racing when I was 9 years old.
One of the nice things about campaigning a sail boat is you get to go to cool places and meet great people. Every venue is different and it's fun to experience them all. It seems I've been on the road a bunch lately campaigning the J24 with my fellow One Design guru Chuck Allen so there are too many funny stories to jot down here! Chuck's about as funny as a one gets.
FAMILY & FUN
I live in Portsmouth, RI. Daisy is my Yellow Lab and she loves to retrieve tennis balls and being in boats. The center console mostly and when she comes sailing she always goes to the high side to help flatten the boat :)
Other than sailing skiing is at the top of the list for sure. We hike a lot, I play some tennis and like to ride the mountain bike and road bike when I can. I'm pround to live a healthy, honest life.
NORTH SAILS
I first started with North Sails in Salem, Massachussets in 1997 and came to North Sails Rhode Island in 2006. I wanted to work for a sailmaking company that I was proud to work for and North Sails was clearly it.
