GREG FISHER’S ONE DESIGN LEGACY WILL REMAIN STRONG AT NORTH SAILS
One Design Champion Accepts Director of Sailing Position at College of Charleston

(Annapolis, MD) -- North Sails One Design expert Greg Fisher has formally accepted the position of Director of Sailing at the College of Charleston. Fisher, who became a sailmaker immediately after college in 1978, opened his own loft, Fisher Sails in 1986, and eventually joined North Sails in 1991. He has won 21 National and North American titles in seven different one design classes throughout his sailing career.
“Greg’s legacy at North Sails will remain strong because he is a wonderful leader and mentor for both North Sails clients and new salesmen within our company,” said Vince Brun, head of the North Sails One Design team. “He built a strong One Design sailing foundation on the Chesapeake that will allow Allan Terhune to easily transition into being the go-to person at North Sails for the Chesapeake Bay. Greg’s leadership and knowledge have always made him a great role model for our sales and service teams and although we will miss Greg, he has made us all better sailors, which will ultimately benefit North Sails clients for many years to come.” Greg will officially depart from North Sails in mid-September and will start the Director of Sailing role October 1st.
A naturally talented sailor who has become well-known within the One Design world, Greg said his decision to leave North was not easy. “It was an emotional decision for me to leave a part of the sport and industry I have been involved with for so long,” explained Fisher. “I have truly enjoyed working with such a strong team here at North Sails. The One Design group is so special because we all work very closely by team-selling and team-servicing, which is what I think sets us apart from our competition,” he continued. “Our sail designers do an outstanding job designing fast and easy-to-use sails and our production team is exceptionally efficient and quality-driven. I am so proud to have been a part of such a strong, dedicated and powerful team of sailmakers, promoters and just great people,” he said. “But I look forward to the exciting new challenges that the College of Charleston will give me in many areas, like coaching, that I have always thoroughly enjoyed.”
The entire North Sails team wishes Greg and his family much luck and success in their new venture.
