AP-2 ALL PURPOSE MAINSAIL

The AP-2 is an All-Purpose mainsail designed to cover a full range of conditions for crews of all sizes. It has been developed with the assistance of Olympic medallists, Jochen Schuemann and Jeff Madrigali and become our ALL PURPOSE main.

This sail features 5.46 Contender yarn tempered cloth in the head and foot areas and 260 Dimension/Polyant medium firm finish cloth in the body of the sail. The yarn tempered cloth reduces speed-robbing stretch in the high load head and clew areas. We make the body of the sail out of softer cloth that allows bias stretch in the center which makes the sail very forgiving to trim.

Mainsails include:

  • Featuring the new windwos and shelf foot for 2012!
  • Battens
  • Sail numbers
  • Insignia/numbers
  • Leechline windows
  • Sail bag

"The V1+ is a great sail and we used it all the way up to 15-16 knots. Mainsail DC-1 have a good shape and with the full batten at the top and the soft cloth half way and all the way to the top. I would highly recommend that you make this mainsail standard, since it was definitely great “all around” . I used the full top batten in light and heavy air and it workout great. I also measured for the Worlds, an North A1 jib and a Monster spinnaker. In other words, I used a full North inventory, which gave me the edge necessary to win the Worlds. -- Hans Fogh - 2006 World Champion

V-1+ LIGHT-MEDIUM JIB
(0-12 kntos with choppy)

The V-1 Plus Jib has become the class standard light to medium air jib over the years. Practically every Soling sailor worldwide has one in their inventory. While the V-1 Plus Jib is designed as a light to medium sail, some sailors race with two V-1's on board, a newer one for when the breeze is on and an older, fuller one, for the light stuff.

For cloth we use 4.46 PK Contender on the body of the sail and 5.46 Contender on the head and foot area. The full round entry of the V-1 Plus makes it very forgiving and easy to steer to, even in the chopiest conditions.

Jib include:

  • NEW Larger Vision window!
  • Sail bag

TURBO MEDIUM-HEAVY JIB
10-20 kntos

The Turbo Jib is a variation on the V-1 Jib and uses exactly the same shape as the V-1 Plus. The difference is that the foot of theTurbo is 2" longer to take full advantage of the Soling class rules. In order to use the Turbo you must have moved your jib track aft.

For cloth we use 270 HTP Contender on the body of the sail and 5.46 Contender on the head and foot area.

Jib include:

  • Vision window
  • Sail bag

MONSTER SPINNAKER

The Monster has been a class standard design for years. It is an all-purpose spinnaker and performs well throughout the wind range and over a wide variety of courses.

The Monster is primarily built from AirX 600 Nylon that we have specially made just for Soling spinnakers. This cloth is made by Bainbridge Sailcloth, and comes in right on the class minimum weight and offers light weight with low stretch.

"The North set of sails for sure gave us the edge to win the Worlds. We were faster than the other boats all the times! Fast upwind and extremely fast downwind! With the speed in place we could concentrate on the tactics.. and here's the result!!!! Thank you very much! We are proud to have North on our team!"
George Nehm - 2007 World Champion
