The classic Shields
is a highly tactical keelboat with large fleets in some of North Americas
more prestigious yacht clubs. This three decade old design has attracted
some of the world's best sailors to test their match racing and tactical
skills. It has also attracted North Sails and, with our technology and
attention to detail, we have become the sail design leader in this prestigious
class. With class sail limitation rules allowing each hull to acquire
only one sail a year, durability in sail construction is equally as
important as performance. That is why North Sails have won the every
National Championship since 1988.
NORTH
SHIELDS MAINSAIL
 With durability being a key factor, the North Shields Mainsails
are built out of the highest quality fabric available. Using
yarn tempered cloth, that is nearly 8 ounces in weight, our
mainsail is exceptionally durable as well as high performing.
The shape of the sail makes it an excellent light air performer
(for Long Island Sound conditions) while it's construction
makes it wear better than any other (for the gear busters
of Buzzards Bay).
