North Sails has long been a leader in building sails for Southern California's Top Junior boat, the SABOT. Recently, we have refocused our efforts on this important junior class and have gotten some great results. Our Sabot sails has dominated the Junior Nationals winning all three of the top divisions.

North Sails One Design now offers two models of Sabot mainsails. Our all-new T-5 mainsail is added to compliment the XLR-8.

NEW! NAPLES T-5 SABOT MAINSAIL The new T-5 is slightly flatter in the middle compared to the XLR-8. This change makes the sail more open in the leech which makes the sail a little more forgiving to trim, having a wide range of trim possibilities in the light and puffy conditions we often see in the bays and harbors of Southern California. In a light spot, the upper leech at the top batten of the T-5 will open with a slight mainsheet ease, the lower leech at the bottom batten will stay closed so you can keep your speed and height in the lulls! Which sail is best for me? If you are a larger sailor, and a very experienced sailor then the XLR-8 is likely the still the sail for you. If you are lighter, have a mast that is on the stiffer side or looking for a sail that will be more automatic on the trim side then the new T-5 would be a great way to go. The Naples T-5 Sabot mainsail features : Made from 130 HTP yarn tempered cloth. It features North Blue-X window and a blue trim around the tack reinforcement. We sew the battens into the leech of the sail, so you never have to worry about losing them! The luff of the main has telltales on it as does the leech. NAPLES XLR-8+ SABOT MAINSAIL This sail is an improvement on the XLR-8 and is more open in the top which makes it easier to keep the top of the sail in trim and the boat going fast! More Forgiving….More Speed…..The NEW XLR-8+!!! You gotta have one! The Naples XLR-8+ Sabot mainsail features : The Naples XLR-8+ Sabot Mainsail is made from 130 HTP yarn tempered cloth. It features North Blue-X window! We sew the battens into the leech of the sail, so you never have to worry about losing them! The luff of the main has telltales on it as does the leech.
