North Sails enters the F-18 Catamaran marketplace! North's F-18 sails are constructed in a radial panel layout. Long term, the goal will be build the F-18 Cat sails with North's exclusive 3DL RM laminated process. However, the development of this process for sails this size is ongoing and may not be readily available until late summer 2005. Check our web for the latest updates!

NORTH F-18 MAINSAIL The North F-18 main has a slightly shortened foot with more roach in the upper quarter. This added projected area provides a better endplate and helps induce twist in bigger breeze. Because the added area is slightly lower down in leech from the head, the twist is induced lower as well. As a result the sail becomes more forgiving to trim, especially in heavier, puffy wind. The sail is built from a 3.0 mil laminated Apen Smoke Pentex fabric specially chosen to match the higher loads of a high performance Cat. NORTH F18 JIB The North F-18 Jib is slightly flatter than other jibs in the class for lower drag and higher pointing capabilities. It is built from North Sails' exclusive laminated Pentex fabric. A blue x-ply yarn shows that this cloth is special and an ideal choice for the F-18!

THE F-18 SPINNAKER

The F-18 Spinnaker is adopted from North's proven Code Zero mold and this basic shape has proven fast in Tornado Cats as well. The sail is built from AirX fabric. Available in white, red and blue.
